Fashion & Style for tall women

Most women suffer from a ‘What to Wear Crisis’ on occasion but when you
are tall (over 5’9) and don’t have as much choice as other women, this can turn into a ‘What to Wear Meltdown’.  Not only is there less choice in shoes in size 8 and above, there is also the dilemma of finding clothes that fit.  In the past being tall has meant having to compromise on style but the high street has improved immensely over recent years.

The real challenge when you are tall is creating a whole look.  Often I have bought an amazing dress and then had the sudden dreaded realisation, “Where on earth am I going to find the shoes to go with it?”  Last summer, when my sister Jane, who is the same height and shoe size as myself, was agonizing over what to wear to a party, I decided to take up the challenge of finding her an outfit.  It wasn’t an easy quest and involved hours of trawling the internet but I was determined that she should look and feel amazing by the time I had finished.  It made me realise how frustrating the whole experience can be, especially if you lack time or have a young family as my sister does.   That’s when my idea came about to start a fashion blog specifically for taller women, with the aim of lessening the frustration of trying to get a whole outfit together. I wanted to create whole ‘looks’ and ‘Style’ pages that would suit tall women, like piecing together a style jigsaw.  I aim to keep my suggestions relevant to what’s happening in fashion but always focusing on what styles suit a taller frame.  The clothes are from current collections and all stockists are listed.   I feature smaller companies that specialise in shoes for women with larger feet and also high street stores that have ‘Tall’ ranges as well as accessories which are the most accessible way for taller women to keep on trend.

I am 6ft tall and have size 9 feet and have created this fashion blog for tall women.  I
love creating a more eclectic look and believe that its not what you wear – its how you put it together, mixing up designer and vintage pieces or high street with amazing charity shop finds.   Being tall has definitely pushed me to be more innovative, I have learnt bespoke tailoring, and I also adapt and customise shop bought items.  Living on the Sussex Coast is a goldmine for vintage and charity shop buys and it definitely inspires my creativity.
